Inspiration booklet for Swap-bot Partner

An Experiment with Shaving Cream Technique for an ATC

I've been having an especially fun time trading my creations with new acquaintances through Swap-Bot online. Not long ago I had to learn the "shaving cream" technique to create ATCs to swap with friends. Using a paper plate filled with about an inch of shaving foam and several drops of re-inkers for my Ranger ink pads, I used a craft stick to swirl the colors--a bit like stirring the chocolate into a marble cake. Then I dipped a card onto the colorful swirls until totally covered. Then I set card on work space and use edge of bone shaper to scrape of all the extra foam. The result was beautifully marbled ATCs! Then I had fun decorating them to mail to my swap partners. (You will find detailed instructions and a video demo for this progress on You Tube; just search for "shave cream technique."  Here are the cards I created:

These two have clear acrylic pockets marbleized with Ranger alcohol inks. I added two Tim Holtz metal word tags as a finishing touch.

I had an extra marbleized card, so I used it for another swap, an ATC that added the recipient's initials. I added some flowers and created a paper pocket to fill with two tags with stamped messages.
Today I am limited in what I can do because of recent hand surgery. So I've decided to use the next few days to post some of my paper and mixed media art and creations. These are photos of the mini/tag album I started at a Tim Holtz class last April and finished here at home. It is filled with photo shopped pictures of my Nate and Rissa and our pets.
